Frontend Developer Resume Guide 2026

Prove you ship pixel-perfect, performant UIs — not just components — with the keywords and measurable bullets that pass ATS at product companies and agencies.

A frontend developer resume should prove you build fast, accessible interfaces. Quantify load-time, bundle-size, or Core Web Vitals improvements and conversion impact, name your framework and tooling (React, TypeScript, testing) in plain text, and show accessibility and design-system work — the details that separate senior front-end engineers from the rest.

What recruiters expect to see

Technical Skills

Separate UI frameworks, state management, testing, and tooling. Frontend JDs scan for specific framework names.

Work Experience

Use Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, FID) and business metrics (bounce rate, conversion) as bullet anchors — far stronger than "improved performance".

Portfolio / GitHub

Link to live projects or a portfolio site. Recruiters click through for frontend roles more than any other discipline.

ATS keywords to include

Sample bullets that work

Each follows the verb + action + scope + measurable outcome pattern.

  • Rebuilt product listing page with React + TanStack Query; LCP dropped from 4.2s to 1.1s, bounce rate fell 18% month-over-month.
  • Introduced Storybook component library shared across 4 product teams; cut UI bug reports 38% and sped up design handoff by 2 days per sprint.
  • Led WCAG 2.1 AA audit on checkout flow; remediated 26 accessibility violations, enabling compliance for EU market launch.
  • Migrated Create React App → Vite; build time dropped from 4m 10s to 28s, hot-reload from 3.8s to 280ms.

Mistakes that kill interviews

  • Writing "Proficient in HTML/CSS" — this is expected, not a differentiator. Focus on what you built with it.
  • No performance metrics. Core Web Vitals scores and business impact (conversion, bounce rate) are what senior frontend JDs filter on.
  • Listing every CSS framework ever touched. Pick the 2-3 you know deeply; breadth without depth reads as junior.
  • Missing testing tools. Automated test coverage shows production-mindedness that separates mid from senior candidates.

ATS-specific tips for this role

  • Use full names: "React (ReactJS)", "Next.js" — both forms appear in different JDs.
  • Include "TypeScript" separately from "JavaScript" — many JDs filter for it independently.
  • Mention browser compatibility or cross-browser testing if relevant; ATS for agency roles often scan for it.
  • PDF with embedded text only — no screenshots of code or portfolio in the resume file.
