Everything you need to know about ResumeBuildz
The free tier includes all 20 templates, 12 ATS tools, DOCX and HTML export, and job description matching. No sign-up required. AI rewrites and PDF exports have daily limits on the free plan. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited access.
No account is needed to start building. Just open the builder and go. Creating a free account is optional and lets you access Pro features when available.
All your data is stored in your browser's localStorage. That's storage on your device, not on any server. We don't have servers that store user data. Your resume stays entirely on your machine. See our privacy policy for full details.
You can export your resume data as a JSON backup file using Ctrl+S (or Cmd+S on Mac). This creates a complete backup of your resume that you can import on another device. You can also export your finished resume as PDF, DOCX, or HTML to share or print.
Yes! ResumeBuildz supports up to 10 resume profiles. You can create different versions of your resume tailored for different job applications, industries, or career paths. Switch between profiles instantly using the profile manager.
ResumeBuildz supports importing resumes from multiple formats including PDF, DOCX, TXT, HTML, and Markdown (MD). The import feature intelligently parses your existing resume and maps the content to the appropriate sections.
You can export your resume in three professional formats: PDF (best for submitting to employers and ATS systems), DOCX (Microsoft Word format for easy editing), and HTML (for web-based portfolios or online applications).
The AI feature uses the Groq API to provide intelligent suggestions for improving your resume content. On the free tier you bring your own free Groq API key (from Groq's website), and your text is sent directly from your browser to Groq — it never passes through our servers. Paid plans route only the specific text being rewritten through a minimal server-side proxy (see the AI privacy question below). Either way, the AI can rewrite bullet points, suggest skills, and optimize your content for ATS systems.
Yes. ResumeBuildz is privacy-first. In guest mode everything runs in your browser (localStorage), so your resume content is never sent to our servers. We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (Vercel Web Analytics) that collects no personal data, and we set no tracking or advertising cookies. The only cookies are first-party session cookies, and only if you create an account and sign in. The one exception is the optional AI feature, where just the specific text you choose to rewrite is sent to Groq.
ATS stands for Applicant Tracking System. It's software that scans and filters resumes before a recruiter sees them. About 98% of Fortune 500 companies use one. If your resume doesn't match enough keywords from the job description, the ATS rejects it automatically. Read our complete ATS guide to learn how to beat it.
Here are the key steps: (1) Use exact keywords from the job description, (2) stick to standard headings like "Experience," "Education," and "Skills," (3) avoid tables, columns, and graphics, (4) use a simple, single-column format, (5) include both full terms and acronyms (e.g., "Search Engine Optimization (SEO)"), and (6) run the built-in ATS Score Checker to catch what you missed. Our ATS guide covers each of these in detail.
Use the free ATS Score Checker built into the ResumeBuildz builder: paste your resume (or build it directly in the app), and it runs a 12-point check covering formatting, section headings, keyword density against a job description, and common parsing failures, no sign-up or upload to a third-party service required. Read the full ATS guide for what each check means and how to fix common failures.
No. ResumeBuildz (with a "z" at the end, at resumebuildz.tech) is an independent, free, open-source project built by Surya L in India. It is not affiliated with ResumeBuild.ai, ResumeBuilder.com, or any similarly named tool. See our full disambiguation page for details.
ResumeBuildz is released under a non-commercial license. You're free to use it for personal resume building, but commercial use (such as offering it as a paid service or integrating it into commercial products) requires a separate commercial license. Please contact us at Suryaraj8147@gmail.com for commercial licensing inquiries.
You can report bugs by opening an issue on our GitHub repository at github.com/Surya8991. Please include steps to reproduce the bug, your browser version, and any relevant screenshots. You can also reach out via our contact page.
ResumeBuildz supports all modern browsers including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Microsoft Edge (version 90 and above). For the best experience, we recommend using the latest version of your preferred browser.
Yes, ResumeBuildz is built with a fully responsive design that works on smartphones, tablets, and desktop computers. While you can view and make quick edits on mobile devices, we recommend using a desktop or laptop for the full resume-building experience.
Not yet. ResumeBuildz is currently a single-user tool. To share a resume with someone, export it as PDF, DOCX, or JSON and send the file. Real-time collaboration is on our roadmap for the Pro plan.
Export your resume in your preferred format: PDF for ATS systems and recruiters, DOCX for Word users, or HTML for online portfolios. You can also export the raw JSON file as a backup or to import on another device.
Pro unlocks unlimited AI bullet rewrites (free plan caps at 1 per day), unlimited PDF exports (free plan caps at 3 per day), priority support, and all future Pro-only features. The core build-and-export loop remains free forever. Payments integration is rolling out; see the pricing page for current status.
The limit exists to keep the profile switcher fast and the localStorage footprint under control. 10 profiles covers essentially every job search we have seen. If you genuinely need more, you can export older profiles as JSON and re-import later; nothing is lost.
AI rewrites send only the specific text being rewritten (one bullet, one summary) to Groq via a server-side proxy. Your name, email, and full resume context are never included in the request. For Bring-Your-Own-Key AI users, the request goes directly from your browser to Groq with no server in between.
Yes. Press Ctrl+/ (or Cmd+/ on Mac) in the builder to see the full list. Ctrl+K opens the command palette. Ctrl+S exports your resume data as a JSON backup. Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Shift+Z handle undo and redo. Full shortcut reference available in the builder Help menu.
Not a native app. ResumeBuildz is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that installs to your home screen from Chrome, Safari, or Edge on mobile. You get app-like behaviour (offline support, home-screen icon, no browser chrome) without an App Store download. The editor works on mobile but is optimised for desktop.
Yes. The app targets WCAG 2.1 AA compliance: proper heading order, labelled form controls, keyboard-navigable throughout, sufficient colour contrast on all text, and aria-labels on icon-only buttons. We run Lighthouse accessibility audits on every release; current score is 100/100 on mobile and desktop.
Visit the /blog hub for topic clusters (Resume Writing, ATS & Keywords, Interviews & Cover Letters, India Hiring, AI Resume Tools). We also have 22 company-specific resume guides (Google, Amazon, TCS, Flipkart, Razorpay, and more) under /blog/company-guides, and 40 role-based guides (software engineer, product manager, data scientist, etc.) under /resume.
Payments are not yet live, but when they launch you will be able to cancel from Settings -> Account at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Pro features through that period. No cancellation fees.
Unlikely, but your safety net: (1) Your resume is in localStorage, so it survives any backend outage. (2) Export JSON at any time using Ctrl+S; the file is a complete, portable backup. (3) The code is open source on GitHub and self-hostable forever, even if we vanish.
