Operations Manager Resume Guide 2026

Show you drive efficiency, cut costs, and scale processes — with the throughput and cost metrics that operations hiring managers filter for across every industry.

An operations manager resume should read as an efficiency ledger. Quantify cost saved, throughput gained, and processes you streamlined, name the systems and metrics you owned (ERP, SLAs, KPIs), and show team leadership and cross-functional coordination — recruiters screen ops roles on measurable improvement, not responsibility lists.

What recruiters expect to see

Operations Skills

Include methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma), ERP systems (SAP, Oracle), and domain specialisation (supply chain, service ops, shared services).

Work Experience with Efficiency Metrics

Cost reduction %, throughput improvement, headcount productivity, and SLA performance are the core signals for ops roles.

P&L or Budget Ownership

Stating the budget or cost base you managed immediately communicates seniority and accountability level.

Sample bullets that work

Each follows the verb + action + scope + measurable outcome pattern.

  • Redesigned fulfillment process using Lean principles; order processing time reduced from 3.2 days to 8 hours, picking accuracy improved 99.1% → 99.8%, saving Rs 1.1 Cr annually.
  • Led shared services centre of 120 FTEs across 4 functions; SLA compliance improved from 81% to 97% within 6 months of taking ownership.
  • Negotiated 18 vendor contracts representing Rs 34 Cr annual spend; achieved 14% average cost reduction while maintaining or improving SLAs.
  • Implemented ERP migration (SAP S/4HANA) across 3 business units; go-live on schedule, 98% data integrity, post-go-live defect rate <2%.

Mistakes that kill interviews

  • "Managed day-to-day operations" tells the reader nothing. Name the function, team size, and one measurable improvement.
  • No cost or efficiency metrics. Operations managers are expected to show ROI on process improvements — this is non-negotiable for senior roles.
  • Listing Six Sigma as a skill without the belt level (Yellow, Green, Black). Belt level is a direct ATS and human filter.
  • Omitting team size. "Managed a team" should always include headcount — it directly signals seniority.

ATS-specific tips for this role

  • "Six Sigma" and the belt level are separate keywords: "Six Sigma Green Belt" hits different ATS filters.
  • "Lean" and "Lean Manufacturing"/"Lean Operations" are separate terms — use the domain-specific form.
  • "P&L" and "profit and loss" both appear in JDs — include both if you have budget ownership.
  • "SLA" and "service level agreement" appear in different JDs — write out the full form at least once.
